Christmas at Crowstone House
December 24th was a hive of activity at Crowstone House. The activity co-ordinator, Louise Feasey, organised a large party to celebrate not only Christmas but the 96th birthday of Iris Caten. Iris's family have supported Crowstone House throughout her time at the home and were thrilled to be involved in the party organisation. They wanted it to be a day to remember, not only for their Mum but also for every resident living at Crowstone House. Over a period of months, along with Louise, they collected enough donations so that each resident received a Christmas gift from visiting elves.
Julie Jive rocked the main lounge all afternoon with hits from the 50's and 60's including some favourite Christmas tunes. The family support was amazing and the lounge floor soon filled up with families, residents and staff dancing to her amazing voice.
Louise, along with her son Jack, Charlotte Bellinger and Jack Bates, both care staff, arrived in elf costumes and Charlotte brought with her her 6 year old twins who were also dressed as elves. The residents laughed at the costumes and thought it was just a wonderful idea. Each resident was given an elves hat or Santa hat to wear and the party then turned into a huge tea party in the main lounge with cup cakes, mince pies donated from families along with a wonderful cake from Johanna Jackson's daughter.
Both Jack Bates and Jack Feasey danced with residents and definitely made some lovely ladies smile!
The children gave out gifts to each resident which brought smiles and tears of joy!
A wonderful day was had by all and definitely a birthday to remember!!
