Rose Court Christmas Activities

The Christmas Spirit arrived at Rose Court…

Residents helped to put up the Christmas decorations and decorate the Christmas trees at Rose Court residential care home in Ballymena, Northern Ireland. Residents and staff all sung Christmas songs while decorating our home with Christmas decorations. Everyone had so much fun and Rose Court is officially on the countdown to Christmas.

Rose Court’s Activity Coordinators, Erinn and Bernice, organised a fundraiser ‘PJ day’ to help raise funds for the residents for extra outings, treats and activities. Both residents and staff participated in the fundraiser event which was enjoyed by all.

Here are some photographs showing some of the weekly activities at Rose Court, Ballymena, which our residents take part in. The residents enjoyed the activities as you can see from the photos and participated very well in each activity.

In the lead up to Christmas, some of the Rose Court residents went to the Puss in Boots pantomime, performed at The Braid Arts Centre in Ballymena. The residents had a great time at the panto and danced and clapped along to the music. Some relatives also attended and it was a great day out for everyone.

On Friday 14 December, staff at Rose Court care home in Ballymena put on a Cinderella Panto for residents and relatives. We had 2 shows at 2pm and 7pm, both of which were a full house!

Staff worked very hard and very well together as a team, just as they do in their care profession, and planned for 6 weeks to put on a pantomime for our residents and relatives. All props and backdrop scenes were made by staff including a standing hoist which was transformed into Cinderella’s carriage. A lot of thought and creativity was put into the panto which was recognised by many.

During the two intervals, a resident sang some songs to keep the crowd entertained. She had been working very hard, practising her lyrics while adding in her own lyrics. She really enjoyed getting the opportunity to perform and we were very proud of her for doing so.

The residents thoroughly enjoyed the show as well as relatives and the positive feedback from residents and families was phenomenal. We look forward to making this a yearly event at Rose Court which we will aim to make bigger and better each year!
