Chelmunds Court care home reopens to accept new residents

New management and a robust improvement plan at Chelmunds Court care home, situated in the newly regenerated area of North Solihull, Chelmund’s Cross, has seen improvements that have stabilised the residential care and nursing service. Chelmunds Court, operated by Runwood Homes, is therefore delighted to announce resuming the intake of new residents from Monday 25 March 2019 onwards.

Huge improvements at the residential care and nursing home in Pomeroy Way, Chelmund’s Cross, have been documented by the Care Quality Commission, in a report published on 2 March 2019 (see full report here: https://www.cqc.org.uk/location/1-4349111960).

Faced with challenges during the first few months of operation, the home saw an inadequate CQC report in August 2018 and an admissions embargo. With new management placed, Runwood Homes instantaneously implemented a vital action plan to rapidly improve the service, realising the good quality standard that the organisation expects.

Local authority partner, Solihull Council, stated, "Solihull Council recognises the improvements that have taken place at Chelmunds Court following the publication of the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) recent inspection report. In a meeting with Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group and Runwood Homes, the Council has decided to recommence the placement of new residents in a phased approach from 25 March 2019.”

Chelmunds Court was awarded ‘good’ in two out of the five key areas of inspection in the March 2019 CQC report. Maintaining the great work in providing good quality care and responsiveness, the North Solihull care home hopes to be awarded ‘good’ overall in a fresh CQC report following a visit expected in the coming months.
