Windmill House update: Mother and Baby Group, Friendship Cafe Party, Valentines Craft and Cooking Group and more!

Residents at Windmill House have been as busy as ever over January and February, engaging in some brilliant activities with one another.

Hugh, Windmill’s lovely new resident, spent his career in a workshop making bespoke wooden handles. Hugh wanted to go out shopping and purchase his wife a Valentine’s card, as well as visit the Wymondham Market Cross, as he had manufactured the wooden newels there many years ago. Hugh loved seeing some of his previous work and it was lovely for him to reminisce with staff members.

Residents at the home celebrated Friendship Day, where they held a Friendship Cafe Party. Each resident chose a topic to talk about and sat in an open space, getting to know one another and spend some quality time with one another. John, a resident at the home, read out his favourite poem by Rupert Brooke, and Enid shared her secret to reaching a hundred!

Windmill also hosted their fortnightly Mother and Baby group, in which mothers from the local community bring their children in to socialise with residents and each other on a regular basis. With soft play equipment and drinks and sweet treats, it was a delightful visit for all those involved!

To celebrate the tradition of Valentine’s Day, staff organised a craft and cooking group for residents to take part in and make loving gifts for their families and friends.
