Coronavirus Protection Information for Visitors
Coronavirus - Update from Runwood Homes as of 13 March 2020.
Gavin O’Hare-Connolly Chief Operating Officer has advised;
“As an organisation we take the health and welfare of our residents and staff very seriously. We have had a number of calls and enquiries requesting clarity on our decision to postpone non-essential visiting to our services.
In light of the ever changing developments across the UK we took the position given our client group is of the highest risk to develop complications to Coronavirus to temporarily postpone non-essential visiting to our services.
We recognise and acknowledge the advice from the Prime Minister yesterday and must take such advice in context. An elderly person living at home is very different to an elderly person living communally with many others of similar status.
We recognise that there will be varying opinion and emotion regarding this postponement but we must remind everybody that this decision is in line with the welfare of your loved ones, our residents and our dedicated staff and is a protective mechanism.
We look to trends and reactions across the world when we consider all clinical and scientific evidence on a daily basis and as such we are very clear that this action is in the best interests of those who share our homes and work with us.
We ask for your patience and understanding throughout this time and assure you we are reviewing all evidence on a daily basis and proactively managing the situation in line with the risks as they present.
Additional telephone and video calling access is available across our services to maintain family contact and we look to relax the current postponement as soon as it is safe to do so.
We thank you for your continued understanding at this unprecedented time for health and social care”.
Coronavirus - Update from Runwood Homes as of 11 March 2020.
As we are all aware, the Coronavirus advice is ever changing and, as an organisation, we have taken the position to temporarily suspend visitors entering our homes. This is a very temporary measure and will be reviewed daily, with further updates provided as soon as any changes occur. Those residents receiving end of life care will be afforded open ended visiting in their own rooms. The following restrictions are in place to protect residents and staff from contracting Coronavirus. The notice below is displayed in all entrance areas.
In addition, the Notice below was produced to be displayed on 09.03.2020 (version 2) advising that any returning travellers from highly infected areas, should refrain entirely from entering, regardless of whether they are symptomatic of Coronavirus. Verison 1 of this Notice was first issued on 28.02.2020 and a copy is available upon request:
