Liberty House Mark The Home’s One Year Anniversary With A Tropical-Themed Open Day

On Saturday 11^th September, Liberty House were thrilled to host their Tropical- themed open day. The event marks one year since the official opening of Liberty House, and, to celebrate this, staff and residents were honoured to invite Ben Parkinson, an inspirational figure who officially opened the home’s doors back in September 2020. 

Ben Parkinson is particularly known in his hometown of Doncaster and has endured and overcome such difficult times; he lost both of his legs and suffered brain damage and more than 40 injuries in a bomb attack in Afghanistan in 2006 as a paratrooper. After a journey of recovery, Ben is now best known for embarking on incredible expeditions raising money for charity. Residents and staff were delighted to welcome Ben back to the home and greeted him with a song and some delicious cakes.

The open day was a huge success, with families, friends and the wider community joining in on the celebrations. Residents made some bright and brilliant decorations in preparation for the event and had their outfits ready to fit in line with the theme. Everyone enjoyed the live entertainment, a raffle, singing, dancing and delicious refreshments.

A wonderful day thoroughly enjoyed by all at Liberty House.
