Dementia Dictionary App

To support our staff, families, friends and residents, we are offering access to the dementia dictionary and online forum, a great platform for understanding of the language of dementia.

People with dementia will start to form a new type of language using actions, behaviours, body language, noises or situations and this is called ‘The Language of dementia’.

The goal of the Dementia Dictionary is to translate this new communication into an understandable language and reconnect people with dementia to the world.

Staff and families who have or are supporting people with dementia, together, have so much knowledge, the Dementia Dictionary App allows you to share that knowledge, which will benefit everyone.

The QR code below, which will also be displayed around our homes, will take the user to the dementia dictionary app, and will provide families and staff the chance to help create the content of the Dementia Dictionary. This will, in turn, create an informative platform to help further understanding of the language of dementia and allow more effective communication with those living with dementia.
