Chelmunds Court care home resident revisits his family home for first time in three years
The team at Chelmunds Court care home, in Chelmsley Wood, Solihull, arranged for resident Alan to visit his family home with his wife, Catherine, after three years away due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The care home team were so pleased to be able to fulfill Alan’s wishes of returning to see his beloved home for the day, and spend some quality time with his wife, Catherine. While there, the Chelmunds Court team learnt all about Alan’s first time meeting his wife and discussed many of his best memories, whilst he played his favourite records in the background.
With tight COVID restrictions over the last few years, the opportunity for Alan to return to his old home has been difficult, but the team arranged for both him and his wife to have a wonderful day back in their home, spending quality time together in their home which is full of fond memories and familiar comfort.
Wellbeing Lead, Julie Ball, at Chelmunds Court, said:
“We wanted to arrange a special day for Alan to be back home with his wife and enjoy the comforts of home for the day. We enjoyed a lovely spot of tea and cake and both Alan and Catherine very much enjoyed spending the day simply enjoying each other’s company and reminiscing about where they met and times gone by.”
“A huge thank you must go to the team at Chelmunds Court for going above and beyond and arranging such a special day for Alan and Catherine. After three years away, the quality time in their home together was certainly needed.”
