A trip down memory lane for residents at Laureate Court care home
The residents at Laureate Court care home in Rotherham, enjoyed a day trip down memory lane to the popular seaside town of Cleethorpes.
Starting their journey from the care home, the first stop was a walk along the promenade to enjoy the fresh sea air. The group then went to Papa’s fish and chip restaurant on the pier for lunch, with their final stop at the arcades.
Exploring places from the resident’s youth can be a wonderful experience for residents living in a care home setting. Many of the residents who have grown up in Doncaster visited the town with their parents and took their own children and grandchildren; it brought back many happy memories.
Lisa Facer, Home Manager at Laureate Court care home, said:
“Residents had a lovely time, they enjoyed fish and chips on the pier then a delicious ice cream. It was a lovely start to the summer. For many of our residents, Cleethorpes brings back a lot of wonderful memories and it was great to hear about their activities on the day. When they came home, they all started organising their next trip.”
