Your Care in Our Hands Victoria House Day Centre is managed by Nirmala Singhvi, who has vast experience working with older people. Over the past 25 years Nirmala has undertaken a variety of roles, including creating Friends of Greenbanks, raising funds to enhance the lives of the residents. In 2006 she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement award by the company and in 2007, an MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list.Victoria House is a purpose built day centre, situated opposite Greenbanks Care home, and is a 10-15 minute drive from Watford town centre. The Day Centre is open daily from 9am until 4.30pm and has a large dining room, a sensory room, a separate TV room and an activity room. There are two customised bathrooms separate from the general toilet facilities. Victoria House also has a large secure garden where clients can relax, surrounded by large woods and a park nearby. Aims and Objectives
Activities Victoria House aims to provide a range of activities, some of which conclude with lasting displays or events. These activities can include:
Meals As well as having a cup of a tea and a chat, our day centre offers meals to those who attend. Our catering team prepares meals from fresh produce to ensure that all those in our care receive a nutritious and balanced diet, and special dietary needs can be catered for. We like to involve our clients throughout the year in assisting with menu changes. Sometimes the meals may reflect a theme or activity for variety. Health and Personal Services Whilst you are here we can arrange for a chiropodist and/or optician to visit for very reasonable prices. The Day Centre also has hairdressing services; should you wish to have your hair done whilst you are here, please arrange this in advance with the hairdressers. We also provide a Bathing Service for a small fee, although these facilities are always quite busy, so please give us as much advanced notice as possible. Staffing All of our staff undertake cultural training and development; with a particular focus on the needs of people living with dementia. Admissions Policy Victoria House seeks to be open and available to all of the local community. We accept referrals from private individuals and Adult Care Services. Please Contact us for further discussion and to arrange a tour of our facilities. ACS will assess your transport needs under the Assisted Transport Policy and you may be entitled to a service from HCS Transport but not all people will have transport provided based on the assessment. If, however, you are self-funding your visits to the day centre, you will need to make private transport arrangements to pick you up to and from the day centre. Friends of Greenbanks & Victoria House Created in 1984 as the fundraising wing Friends of Greenbanks acts as a charity body raising funds to enrich the lives of the residents of the home. Now in 2008 the body has expanded to allow provision for the clients that attend Victoria House. Through a variety of fundraising events and schemes throughout the year Friends of Greenbanks & Victoria House seek to raise money to buy equipment and fund outings for the users of both establishments. |

What our clients have to say about us:
My mother visits this day centre Monday - Friday and is well looked after by the manager and her staff on a daily basis. The day centre caters for my mother's needs and she is also picked up and brought home. A very good day centre with plenty going on for the clients.
