Runwood Homes Covid-19 Update - 12 May 2020
In line with the latest Government guidance, we’d like to provide reassurance that our homes are continuing to provide good quality, person-centred care to all residents.
Furthermore, our wonderful, front line key workers are sustaining their positive attitude, high morale and evident dedication to their work, which is appreciated not only by the company and families and friends of residents, but also recognised and applauded by the entire nation.
With regards to current protocol, appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) remains in good stock across the group, with a strong supply chain for continued use. Facemasks are being used sessionally as part of our robust infection prevention and control policy, and every effort is being made to reduce the risk of exposure to covid-19.
A daily steering group continues to be held by the Board, with all developments communicated every day to the entire staff group. Each of our homes has at least one covid-19 information board, and is displaying the most up to date guidance and support for the workforce to meticulously follow. Senior managers and directors remain on hand at any time, including evenings and weekends, for any queries to ensure efficient guidance and resolution.
Whilst we have unfortunately experienced some cases of coronavirus, of which we are open in alerting and reporting to key parties and the relevant authorities, the increased access to testing, we feel, has played an effective role in identifying and limiting the number of cases in our homes and, even more positively, we also believe to be ‘past the peak’ in line with the Governments reports.
Visiting restrictions, whilst firmly still in place, have developed to now allow for one nominated person to visit a resident who is on a palliative care pathway. This is to be in consultation with the senior management team. The family member may visit for half an hour and will be provided with PPE upon arrival.
Our Wellbeing and Dementia Services team, with the support of each homes’ Wellbeing Lead, are continuing to support our residents to provide essential company and encourage conversation, meaningful activity and maintain the overall feeling of wellbeing which is so important. Our staff too are receiving wellbeing support, including that of our human resources team and managers. We are still actively keeping families connected via the various technology avenues, which has been wonderful!
All additional and necessary training is conducted in line with service compliancy, to ensure the safe operation of our provisions, and our services remain open to safely admit new residents under strict assessments and conditions, including any crucial isolation periods.
With rigorous home governance in place, we are confident that our homes continue to meet criteria set and expected by regulatory bodies.
We will continue to share further developments and look forward to our homes reopening when it is safe to do so to the families and friends of our residents, of whom we all miss the presence of.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact head office via firstname.lastname@example.org or you may contact a home directly.
