Bridging the generation gap at Four Acres

Residents at Four Acres care home in Studley, close to Redditch, are regularly visited by a group of local children to take part in activities together, which has resulted in building valuable intergenerational companionships, similar to the Channel 4 programme ‘Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds’.

The children have visited the brand new, premium care home in Studley a couple of times since the residents moved into their new home and plan to do so on a regular basis. The group immediately started to form connections and friendships with each other, which has proved great for lifting spirits, and both groups have a genuine interest in working together, which has been a pleasure for the carers to witness.

This coming month the children will be creating Christmas cards with our residents and last month they played different games and built jigsaw puzzles together.

Many of our care homes across the country have also formed great intergenerational relationships with nursery, preschool and school children, including the YOPEY Befriender scheme for teens, and regularly meet up to talk and learn from each other.

Four Acres is a luxury care home setting provide residential care for older people including those who are living with dementia. For more information about Four Acres call 01527 850549 or email four.acres@runwoodhomes.co.uk. To browse our website, please click here.
