Residents at Greenbanks care home in Watford take part in Watford FC Reminiscence Programme.
At Greenbanks care home in Watford, staff are currently taking their residents to Watford stadium every Wednesday for 12 weeks as a part of Golden Memories, which is a reminiscence programme run by Watford’s FC Community Sports and Education Trust.
The programme is aimed at residents living with dementia, ranging from mild to moderate. Golden Memories uses a whole host of Watford FC memorabilia and magic moments to help stimulate the sense and evoke personal memories. Not only does the programme focus on reminiscence, but it also acts as a tool to reintroduce physical activity, whether that be chair exercises or even table football.
Residents were lucky enough to have met two famous Watford football players, Luther Blissett and Nigel Gibbs, which they were over-the-moon with, and they will be meeting many more in the weeks to come.
Staff from Greenbanks care home said “The residents that we have been taking every Wednesday have been having a wonderful time and have really enjoyed taking part.”
Greenbanks is a 66 bedroom modern, residential care home situated in the heart of the Watford community, in the county of Hertfordshire. This spacious Watford care home provides expert care for older people, including those living with dementia.
