Residents at Windle Court care home in Chelmsford, Essex, have been keeping busy with a carvery day out and pets day.

Residents at Windle Court have been keeping busy over December. Staff took residents on a day out to their local carvery restaurant, and Barny, a fellow resident, was able to celebrate his 102nd birthday with his friends and family. Staff said “It was a great day had by all.”

The home were also visited by local petting zoo company J&C’s Party Pets and were able to interact with a whole host of animals. Residents got up close with rabbits, guinea pigs, bearded dragons, tortoises, snakes, birds and more! Elderly people, especially those living with dementia, can benefit in an increasing number of ways from a pet or other animal’s therapeutic traits. Physical health, emotional well-being and social involvement are among the many ways seniors with memory impairments benefit from pets and animal therapy.
