Ben Parkinson MBE cuts ribbon at Liberty House

Special guest and local hero, Ben Parkinson MBE, officially opened Liberty House in Doncaster by cutting the red ribbon alongside Runwood Homes manager, Kathleen George.

Liberty House, is the latest purpose-built care home in Doncaster developed by leading residential provider, Runwood Homes. The home consists of two floors of impressive, specious and well thought out bedroom suites and shared spaces for people over 65 years of age to enjoy.

Ben kindly agreed to cutting the ribbon at the home in Goodison Boulevard to mark the official opening, with just a small number of the homes’ team present in light of current restrictions. Ben commented, “I am so keen to support a new service available for the people of our local and wider community. When it’s safe to visiting in care homes once again, I’d like to spend quality time with the residents and provide a talk on about my story, expeditions and fundraising,” of which he is well known for; receiving an MBE from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace for his work.

Home Manager, Kathleen George, commented, “We’re grateful for Ben’s support to open our new home. Residents are settling in really well and enjoying the state of the art facilities. The home is really safe against covid with regular testing carried out and the latest technologies in place. It’s luxurious too, and surpasses all local care home expectations. We have a virtual tour on the Runwood Homes website and we’re able to facilitate video show rounds too for anyone who might be considering life in a beautiful care home community.”

Catering to those over the age of 65, including those living with dementia, the home comprises of a team of experienced and professional carers who are highly trained to both encourage independence, promote choice and offer a discreet, personalised care service around the clock. What’s more, the home benefits from its own Wellbeing Lead, responsible for activity and meaningful engagement.

With capacity for 81 residents, those moving into Liberty House can expect to enjoy spending quality time in the various shared social spaces such as a bar, café, bistro style restaurant, salon and bespoke home cinema, plus two outdoor living areas, all of which encourage living life to the full.
