Brewster Day Centre
Your Care in Our Hands
Situated in a pleasant residential area near Maldon, Brewster Day Centre is a purpose built centre attached to Brewster House residential Care home. The centre caters for up to fifteen clients Monday – Friday from 9.30am-3.30pm, and accommodates not only for older people and those living with dementia, but also offers a break for carers.
The centre is a short walk away from local shops and amenities and features two large communal areas. In addition, an enclosed patio garden is available, which is popular for sitting in during warm weather. There is also a vegetable patch where clients are encouraged to grow vegetables and flowers.
Aims and Objectives
To provide the support needed to clients, and their carers, to enable them to remain living in their homes
To create an environment where people with specific needs can be assisted to improve their quality of life
To create a community amongst the clients who use the day centre
To provide a wide array of activities
To seek out relevant ways to integrate clients into the wider community
Our philosophy is based on stimulation through activity. As well as the enjoyment that comes from social contact, Brewster Day centre also offers a range of activities for our clients. These activities may include;
Arts and Crafts
Baking or Flower Arranging
Therapeutic activities such as Hand Massage
We also invite clients to assist with light household duties such as washing up, folding small linen items or laying the table.
As well as having a cup of a tea and a chat, our day centre offers meals to those who attend. Our catering team prepares meals from fresh produce to ensure that all those in our care receive a nutritious and balanced diet, and special dietary needs can be catered for. We like to involve our clients throughout the year in assisting with menu changes. Sometimes the meals may reflect a theme or activity for variety.
Health and Personal Services
Whilst you are here we can arrange for a chiropodist and/or optician to visit for very reasonable prices.
The Day Centre also has hairdressing services; should you wish to have your hair done whilst you are here, please arrange this in advance with the hairdressers.
We also provide a Bathing Service for a small fee, although these facilities are always quite busy, so please give us as much advanced notice as possible.
All of our staff undertake cultural training and development; with a particular focus on the needs of people living with dementia.
Brewster Day Centre seeks to be open and available to all of the local community. We accept referrals from private individuals and Adult Care Services. Please Contact us for further discussion and to arrange a tour of our facilities.
Once funding has been arranged, Adult Care Services will be able to arrange transport for you from door to door. If, however, you are self-funding your visits to the day centre, you will need to make private transport arrangements to pick you up to and from the day centre.
